Week 13: I’m still writing. Where is this light at the end of the tunnel?

What did I do last week

  • Did my final presentation

  • Got more replies on my screener survey

  • Started writing my dissertation

Did my final presentation

I did my final presentation last Monday. It felt like a boulder was lifted off my shoulders and yet I still left like I was drowning. Probably because I still have a dissertation to write. It was just a really bad week for me because all three of my classes had their final presentations all within the same week. Although all my professors told me to not worry about it, I also think sometimes they act as if their class was the only class we are taking.

Got more replies on my screener survey

I put my screener survey link on my social media and asked friends and family to fill it out. Some even offered to send it to their friends which I was very grateful for. I’ve gotten 15 responses so far and already I feel like I’m learning more about people’s thoughts and feelings about Chinese New Year than I did while doing my secondary research. I plan on posting the link again on my different social media and asking different groups of friends to fill it out until I reach 40.

Started writing my dissertation

Most of this week was spent writing my dissertation. I think the most difficult part is realizing that a lot of what I’ve read so far has been garbage and I need to do more reading and writing at the same time so that I can hand in this dissertation draft on time. So, that’s encouraging…

But at least now I know what I’m looking for and can find more pointed information to fill out my literature review. I found a BBC broadcast about Chinese New Year that was super helpful. Honestly, I feel like my semester would have gone much better if this was the only class I was taking. Make it a 9 credit course, I don’t care. I just wish I could have gotten time to give it undivided attention and I would feel like I was dying the entire semester.

Anyways, I’m not nearly done. I really hope I can turn it in on time.
